Satoshiās Words From The Past š
With the Bitcoin halving almost here, it's like Satoshi Nakamoto just won't stay quietāeven in his absence. His cryptic words are making rounds again, sparking a blend of nostalgia. š
The following are just some of Satoshiās words.
āThe root problem with conventional currency is all the trust thatās required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.ā
āThe nature of Bitcoin is such that once version 0.1 was released, the core design was set in stone for the rest of its lifetime.ā
āLost coins only make everyone elseās coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.ā
āBanks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts. Their massive overhead costs make micropayments impossible.ā
āWriting a description for this thing for general audiences is bloody hard. Thereās nothing to relate it to.ā
āIt is strictly necessary that the longest chain is always considered the valid one.ā
Satoshiās words and warnings resonate as much today as they did 15 years ago. š
ANALYSIS
The Halvening - What Has Happened Before
Reposting this because weāre one day away from the halving.
Bitcoinās next halving is less than 10 days away, with the current ETA of April 18, 2024, at 7:22 AM EST. š
How has Bitcoin behaved during its past halvings? Letās look:
2012 | 2016 | 2020 | |
---|---|---|---|
3-months before | -61.09% | +166.47% | -16.54% |
30-days after | -1.81% | -11.02% | +8.10% |
90-days after | +85.51% | -5.00% | +29.09% |
6-months after | +66.39% | +38.17% | +83.26% |
12-months after | +259.97% | +283.49% | +562.18% |
Some Key Takeaways
30 to 90 days post-halving price action appears to be āmehā. Negative to slightly neutral price action seems normal.
Price action is overwhelmingly positive 6 months to 12 months after a halving.
Not to throw a wrench in the cogs of excitement here, but hereās another thing to think about: there have only been three halvings before, and three is hardly a number big enough to determine if something is a trend - so keep that in mind. š§

Ripple vs. SEC: Supreme Court Showdown? š§āāļø
The Ripple ($XRP) vs. SEC saga could be heading to the Supreme Court, thanks to a twist in the Coinbase ($COIN) case. šļø
The issue is whether the sale of XRP, or the type of sale, is considered a security. Additionally, the SEC had a recent āwinā in early March when Judge Tana Linās ruling upheld the SECās jurisdiction over the case and that some of the cryptocurrencies traded were securities.
