EO 14178: Trump Swiped Left On CBDCs, Hit Save For Later On Bitcoin Piggy Bank 🐷
There once was a dream of a Strategic BTC Reserve - and we kind of got one back in March with a promise that it would be official and done in the future. We’re just not at that future date yet. 😐️
Today’s Executive Order (EO 14178) from President Trump was essentially an official way for the President to sell institutional crypto and retail crypto alike: they’re still working on it.
You can click that link above to read the full Executive Order, or here’s a TL;DR version:
CBDCs? Banned. Agencies can’t even doodle about them on a napkin.
Regulatory reset. A new Working Group has 180 days to gut the Biden‑era maze and spit out friendlier rules.
Strategic Bitcoin Reserve? The EO says, “go study it.” A follow‑up order in March created one, seeded with forfeited coins.
Actual plan to buy BTC? Not yet. Treasury must keep it “budget neutral,” meaning seized bags only; no taxpayer dip‑buying spree.
Industry reaction: Cheering the vibe, grumbling about the missing meat. The first Working Group report dropped today and punted the reserve details to “later.”
We’ll keep you updated as this policy development continues to, um, develop. 🧠

Kraken Wants $500 Million Before Ringing Wall Street’s Bell 🦑
The second‑largest U.S. exchange (and oldest exchange) thinks the market will happily hand it another half‑billion at a cool $15 billion valuation; why settle for 11 when you can flex with 15. 🤷
Show Me the Money
If investors bite, this would be the biggest crypto raise since Circle’s pre‑IPO cash grab and eToro’s SPAC circus. Kraken’s coffers already swelled in 2024 - $1.5 billion revenue, $380 million EBITDA, and enough trading fees to annoy Coinbase bulls at happy hour.
Toss in the $1.5 billion NinjaTrader buy announced in March, and the exchange is basically speed‑running diversification: futures, equities, payments, whatever prints fees.
Bloomberg rumor-mill says Kraken wants to list as early as Q1 2026, cash‑rich and regulator‑light. Daily volumes hover around $1.37 billion across 1,100 pairs - roughly half Coinbase’s flow but with more toys to trade. 🔢

ON-CHAIN ANALYSIS
People Been Dumpin Hard In July 💩
Tomorrow, you’re going to see how Bitcoin, Ethereum, and some other cryptocurrencies have historically performed in the month of August. 👀
Spoiler: it sucks.
And it could be that some big wig people with big wallets are aware of the major suckage that is August - because they have been dumping like crazy this month.
80k BTC estate cash‑out - Galaxy Digital quietly dripped 80,000 coins ($9B) from a Satoshi‑era hoard into OTC desks and exchange books.
Dormant‑whale season opener (July 4) - Two 2011 wallets jolted awake, moving a combined 20k BTC ($2B).
14‑year snoozer (July 24) - A single address punted 3,962 BTC ($468M) after a cautious 0.0018 BTC test ping. Nice 310,000 % gain since 2011, champ.
T‑minus FOMC dump tease (July 29) - A 2013 OG slid 342 BTC to Kraken, shipping 130.77 BTC ($15M) straight to order books.
Chris Larsen unloads 50M XRP - Ripple’s co‑founder shuffled $140M to exchange‑tagged addresses mid‑rally.
PUMP insiders still… pumping and dumping - 13.75B tokens ($55 M) hit Wintermute; total insider drains near 25.5B for $141M. Rumor says a PE fund lobbed 3.75B to Coinbase - screenshots or it didn’t happen.
Unlock parade - JUP (53.47M / $32M), TRUMP (90M, now nearly $900M at $10), Pi’s 337M finale, plus $27M from Avail‑Venom‑AltLayer. Week 5 alone schedules $833M; August unlocks? I stopped trying to write them all down after $3B.
Whale profit‑taking in SOL & DOGE - Early‑July alt rally fizzled as big wallets clipped 5‑8% off highs.
SHIB “whale exodus” - Top wallets quietly shaved positions, helping drag SHIB 30% off its yearly peak.
There’s a lot more example out there, but I hope the point is made: lots of old wallets and big wallets have been selling into the rally. This, however, prices have remained stable.
So far. 🕵️♂️

Florida Sheriff’s Crypto Grab Backfires Hard 🚔
Volusia County froze and sold 1.19 BTC from an EU‑brokerage after Wisconsin cops asked for backup on a measly $20 k scam, but the warrant had no case number and the blockchain said “wrong wallet.” 😏
So now the sheriff now has to undo everything and foot the lawyer bill.
Why Wisconsin Got Dragged In 🤦
Scam victim lived in Waupaca County, so Badger‑State detectives pinged Volusia’s cyber squad for the heavy lifting.
Wisconsin owned zero crypto infrastructure; Volusia liquidated 0.93733 BTC and air‑mailed a $95,030.59 check under a fuzzy “mutual‑aid” handshake.
Where the Plan Imploded 🤯
Sealed warrant never filed and carried no case number - due‑process dumpster fire.
Blockchain tracing showed zip between the brokerage wallet and the $20k fraud.
Kraken stash was $450k-ish when frozen; BTC’s pump pushed it past $700k while cops fumbled the handoff.
Cleanup on Aisle Volusia 🧹
Unfreeze and return every satoshi to the brokerage.
Claw back Wisconsin’s $95 k paper check.
